Would it make more sense to have objects show hotpoints/outlines only when clicked on, and not lose focus unless another object is clicked on (instead of the hotpoints changing whenever the mouse moves)?  This would be more consistent with other drawing applications and allow hotpoints outside of the visible area of the object (e.g. corner hotpoints for ellipses).
