probably make the wheel be the same as arrows left and right.

so unmodified could scroll in X.
Shift-wheel could zoom in X 
ctrl-wheel could advance (but this is probably too slow an operation for the 
wheel, but we could try).

alt could change to Up and Down.

Keep the same zoom/scroll  factors.
