Sounds like a new plot type which inherits from kstmapplot.  It takes 2 
kstarrays, one for amplitude, and 1 for direction.  

BUT:

One could imagine wanting a vector field or contour plot plotted over a pixel 
map of a different array.
Or a curve plotted over a pixel map.

So:
Another option is for kst2dplot to be able to plot a number of different 
things with different options.
