  On second thought I think I will mostly hold off on this.  Do you have any 
desire to ever make Kst a kpart?  If so, then we don't want a global static.  
However, the current design seems to really depend on the doc-view-app model 
along with statics and other things that aren't particularily kpart friendly 
so that might be quite a challenge anyway.
