A question I have had for some time, but never appeared on the website is simple;

why do I need a kolab server?

To explain;
what is so different between the normal IMAP and the 'protocol' talked by kolab clients that it needs a different server, and why is IMAP not enough to provide that?

I personally have no problem with trying a new client, but when I have to also install a server long experience shows that becomes a magniture harder to setup..
