[Kroupware] smtp authentication problem

Hello
I finally managed to get kolab more or less running
but I don't seem to be able to use smtp. Whatever
I do authentication fails because of unsupported 
authentication method in kmail (the kolab client version)
I have the choice between:

plain
login
cram-md5
digest-md5

none of which actually seems to be
supported.
Receiving mail allso has the possibility of choosing clear text
and receiving mail seems to be working.

How do I solve this?
