I think I can answer this one.  There are two completely seperate types of 
dependencies between tasks (please excuse the ASCII art, I'm pretty bad at it)

First there is the "tree structure" defined in the WBS:

                               Project A
                                     |
               ------------------------
            Task A                                      Task B
                |                                                |
         ----------                       ------------
    Subtask A.1     ST A.2           ST B.1              ST B.2

and so on.  Then there is the "directed graph" which defines the order of the 
project, often displayed as a PERT chart:



    ST A.1---|
                    |--> ST A.2 --> ST B.2 --> Project Complete
    ST B.1---|
