lousy error reporting

Hi Per,

regarding A)
The much more interesting question would probably be: How comes, that 
files outside the tree and/or empty filenames are in the DB or otherwise 
considered? Via symlinks??

regarding B)
This error string is nowhere in the KPA sources. So it must come from 
one of the libraries.
That means, one of the files to be added/parsed must be corrupt. It 
certainly would be helpful to know the name of the file.
Have you tried to view the files with gwenview or another program?

Have you tried to switch off "Search for new images and videos on 
startup" in the KPA-settings? (under file... in KPA settings).
I think, this switch works globally. So if your KPA crashes before you 
can access the settings, you can try this with another or an empty one 
and then go back.
[ When you switch that off, you need to manually load new images via the 
maintenance menu. But the startup will be much faster. ]
