Either way, this would add yet another quoting mechanism to the code-base. My 
initial proposal was for it to be MD5 because we're already using it.
Keep in mind that every piece of external tooling (e.g. kpa-backup.sh) needs 
to implement this as well.

I have to admit, though, that the short unique names do have a certain charm.
