[KPhotoAlbum] InvalidCharsetId?

I just upgraded to kphotoalbum (and Ubuntu 8.04/Hardy) 3.1.1-1 and
have started getting
charset="InvalidCharsetId"  (and a lot of spaces)
in the description field of newly added images.  Anyone seen this
before, or even know what subsystem it comes from? (google only finds
references to libexiv2...)

Filtering them out of the index.xml is trivial enough, but clearly
something's wrong :-)
