The good news: this seems to be related to my kphotoalbumrc file, which was
created (actually converted from kimdaba 2.1) from an older KPhotoAlbum SVN 
version. When I removed this file, I wasn't able to reproduce the bug.

The bad news: I found another one ;-) Selecting Options -> Reset Layout in
the search dialog closes the dialog window but doesn't re-enable the mouse
in the main window. A click (exactly a try to select a time region) on the
timebar even crashes KPhotoAlbum.
