The easyer way to make selection is the standard way:

- window as you described

- Select first +SHIFT + select last

- But the more flexible tool to refine selections is with CTRL wich lets you add/remove single items

In the example you poposed you can use the selection with the window including the unneeded two images,
keep CTRL pressed and click on the images to remove

But AFAIK this is a standard windowing behaviour, not a kimdaba feature (i.e. works on Win).
