   Hmm. The date on my install is 13:27, depends just how long I took 
   unpacking and installing the thing. Let me try it again now...

   wget ... configure ... compile ... install ... test.

   Ok. Now it doesn't crash anymore. Carry on :-)

That tarball doesn't crash for me, either.
