Heiner, Thomas, thanks again for your comments!
I have updated some properties accordingly like the severity
and I agree it is a clear defect that should be fixed.
The format itself has a version number, so the behaviour is well defined.
(And currently not as expected from Kontact 4.8 as you write.)
As I understood it Sergio did only commented looking at the ics file.

However Kontact Desktop from KDEPIM 4.8 and 4.9 is just coming out of a large
rearchitecture phase ranging several years. The process looking at defect
from the user point of view is just ongoing.
