this bug should be renamed, since it's not "from kmail" that we edit events,
and the problem isn't limited to having KMail selected in Kontact.  i can
reproduce the problem with KAddressBook and (iirc) any other non-KOrganizer
component selected in Kontact.  however, selecting a KOrganizer component once
during the Kontact session will prevent the issue thereafter--the Edit button
will then work even if e.g. Mail is selected.  restarting Kontact causes the
problem to return.

this is with Kontact 4.4.7 with KDE 4.5.3 on Kubuntu 10.10.
