After editing an item (both events and to-do) in an Akonadi compatibility
resource, Kontact freezes and must be killed. The Akonadi resource used is a
local ics file (default std.ics from KOrganizer used as native resource). Not
even a restart of the Akonadi server (in System settings) helps.

However, the data is saved because it is available after a restart of Kontact
and also shown before the freeze.

This doesn't occur in KOrganizer directly, only when using Kontact.
