Yes, it seems to happen every time. Though it takes 5 to 10 seconds to trigger
after selecting "Reload". Perhaps it crashes in some kind of background task?

This also happens to me with KOrganizer 4.2.4 in Kubuntu 8.04 with the same
calendar.
