yes, i have "be asked..." selected. 

It was working when i had standard calendar files, then after i migrated them
to akonadi resources it just selects 'some' callendar to add event to. 

I found something else, it is adding events to callendar which was last
selected in "resource configurator" dialog. When i double click one of akonadi
calendars, and select one of them in this dialog, just click OK, and then next
event is added to that 'last selected' calendar.
