I have similar situation with Kubuntu. My KDE version is 3.5.10, Kubuntu
version is 8.04 with latest updates. Also I had problem with kontact crashes
reported in another bug. I'm going to install version with debug symbols to
look at.

kde-config --version shows following:

Qt: 3.3.8b
KDE: 3.5.10
kde-config: 1.0

Exact version of kdepim package is 4.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy3

I had no problems with kontact on my previous machine, also running kubuntu
8.04.
