[kopete-bugs] [Bug 228527] Activating the option "Animate on message with open chat" doesn't work like it used to in 4.3.4. Kopete's system tray icon doesn't animate anymore upon receiving new messages on open, unfocused/minimized chat windows.

I also use Gentoo, I prefer to unmask the latest KDE SC, in this case 4.6.0 and
use KDE-PIM 4.4.10. That combination works, it is only the Gentoo developers
who decided to postpone stabilization for all KDE SC stack because of KDE-PIM.
All other distributions compile KDE-PIM 4.4.x against KDE SC 4.5.x and now
4.6.x.

I cannot talk for the other Kopete developers but I am afraid none of us will
try to fix this bug for Kopete from KDE 4.4.x since it is working for Kopete in
4.5.x and 4.6.x.

I think this problem is related to the changes in notification plasmoid during
4.4.x -> 4.5.x transition, if so then the only solution is porting the
notification API from 4.5.x to 4.4.x. I do not know how big is that task and it
is out of scope of Kopete alone and could bring problems for other KDE 4.4.x
programs.

I will reopen the bug, but I think there will be no solution other than
upgrading to a newer KDE SC.
