It seems not related to the layout change, but with the num block :

- When the num lock is active, enter makes a linebreak, just like shift-enter.
- When the num lock is not active, enter send the message.

Maybe it is related to this bug :

I am not using the enter key from the numpad, but the big enter/return key but
I am on a laptop.
