I can confirm this behavior. Observed with Kopete 1.0.80 under KDE 4.5.1
(Kubuntu 10.10) and the StudiVZ (German Facebook clone) xmmp protocol (also
seems to be prepopulated).

I could observe that even metacontacts that included multiple accounts (e.g.
icq, jabber) forgot which group they were in after adding the StudVZ xmmp
contact.
This behaviour is pretty much the same as in Bug 226548, where it is reported
for Facebook.
