I've got the same problem with contacts in ICQ and Jabber (MSN not yet tested)
and I don't use text formatting. There are these "<p>...</p>"-Tags in my first
message, after this they don't appear any more in a conversation.

I'm using Kopete 1.0.0 in KDE 4.4.3 under Archlinux.
