Hello,
I can confirm this behaviour, but for me it's an MSN contact who complains
receiving the html tags. For me it's just the first message I write to that
contact, all further messages don't have html tags in it. To recreate this
issue I have to close Kopete (completely, not only the chat window), relaunch
it and then the first message has exactly the same html tags as above.

Disabling the text formatting helps here too, but there was a "<p></p>"-tag
left in the first message.

I am on Arch Linux using:
Qt: 4.6.2
KDE: 4.4.3 (KDE 4.4.3)
Kopete: 1.0.0
