I tried reproducing this bug by running ktextedittest from kdelibs/kdeui (and
enabling spellchecking in the context menu), but no problem so far. The test
does not crash and valgrind doesn't complain. Same result with KMail's
composer.

I'm afraid I can't do anything about this without reproducing the bug.

Alex, does ktextedittest work for you? Maybe this bug only appears in
combination with Kopete for some reason?
If you can't fix the bug, please revert this commit.
