There are no errors in the console log and according to the links, a resolution
of 320x240 doesn't work with other applications, too.
So this is clearly a driver/firmware bug and not a bug in the Kopete software:
The device/driver claims to support resolutions which are in fact not working
(video stream contains corrupted image data).

The r5u87x-project at bitbucket.org only provides the firmware (+
firmware-loader, udev-rule,  ...).
The driver for this device is the UVC-kernel driver, so you should file a bug
report at the kernel bugzilla (v4l2/webcam). Hopefully, they can fix it.
