I can confirm this bug (currently using r1108114), and frankly it's quite
annoying, because backspacing the last char is something I seem to do
frequently and undeliberately, so for some weeks now, Kopete crashes quite a
lot on me ;)

I haven't had time to bisect the revision yet, but it didn't happen on my KDE
rebuild in late January, but after the next build which was somewhere around
February 20., iirc.

Interesting side note: Kopete doesn't crash if I clear the text field by some
other means (e.g. deleting the last character with the Delete key, deleting the
last word with Ctrl+Backspace, etc.), only by using Backspace on the last
character.
