I can confirm this - now with Qt 4.6.1 and Kopete from KDE 4.3.4. The
"solution" from the original bug works for me, too. The contacts are greyed
out, don't have any protocol icon and disappear after toggeling "show all".

Many of my "meta-contacts" have several accounts associated with them - perhaps
this is somehow related.
