openSUSEs kopete-package is currently compiled without libv4l-support (I filed
a bug-report).
Does the webcam work when you install libv4l and start Kopete from the terminal
with

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so kopete

?
