You should have at least three icons in the status bar of the contact list.
They all do something important. (set status message, display IM service
messages, and provide an account summary) Also, when a status message is set,
the title of that message is also displayed in the status bar.

The status bar will not otherwise be changes or removed based on this bug
report.
