I'm not sure of the name for this GUI construct so please excuse that.

When a gtalk user adds me as a contact I get an authorization request in
kopete. It "slides in" right above the status bar. When I take an action by
clicking one of the links in the request the request goes away, but the area
that expanded to accommodate it remains. 

A screen shot may explain best. I'll attach one. This is 100% reproducible for
me.
