I forgot to mention that Kopete exists, it does not crash. I have dbg libs
installed and I've run kopete within gdb, but it exits normally:

Starting program: /usr/local/bin/kopete                                         
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]                                   

Program exited normally.                                                        
No stack.
