The same for me with Kopete 1.0.0, KDE 4.4.2 (Ubuntu Lucid). Kopete works fine
on my desktop computer, but does not work on other installations. There, for
one server (gmx.net) it works, for another, it doesn't. The first time the
error occured was after the transition from Ubuntu Jaunty to Ubuntu Karmic.

This is the error message I get:

kopete(14467) Kopete::SocketTimeoutWatcher::ackTimeoutCheck: Connection timeout
for   QHostAddress( "..." )  
Unknown signature value:  795
