Summary: Kopete Forgets Account Passwords Permanently if You're
too Slow to Verify Opening KWallet with Your Master
Password
Product: kopete
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kopete-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: bugreporting at rhesusb.com
Version: 1.0.0 (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-21-generic
For a while now, while using alpha and now beta versions of Kubuntu 10.4, if I
don't enter my password quickly enough (say, like in 10 or 15 seconds) to let
Kopete access the KWallet when logging in, Kopete will chose to prompt me for
my account passwords instead, claiming that the password used must've been
wrong, and that I need to resupply it.
If I just close those dialogs and shut down (or kill -9) kopete, the next time
I run it, it will still prompt me for account passwords, ignoring those that
are found (I guess, unless they've been removed?) in the kwallet.
Reproducing it (at least here) is simple: Set up accounts, choose to remember
the passwords in kwallet, log out, log in, and when prompted by kwallet to
provide the master password so that Kopete may access the wallet, wait for
Kopete to instead prompt directly for passwords.
Cheers,
Daniel :)
