Confirmed, problem still exists in 4.3.2 

Gentoo Linux, KDE 4.3.2 Kopete 0.80.2
Jabberd2 server on same LAN

Tried 2 different servers, one without SSL support, jabberd2-2.1.19, the other
with SSL, jabberd2-2.2.8. Same problem with Kopete on both servers.

Older clients (KDE 3.5.9 or Windows with Spark, Pidgin and Mac with Adium) have
no problems with the same servers.
