I experienced this problem but was not in my own contact list at Yahoo.

When I logged in to the Yahoo messenger web site it prompted me to create two
verification questions (favorite pet etc.).

I made no other changes, and Kopete stopped bugging me about adding my own id.

It could be Kopete was bahaving badly in response to a message from there
server.
