Bump! I'm having the exact same problem, and it makes using Kopete painful.

Loki2010 and doctordruidphd at yahoo.com : is there a way to run Y!Messenger via
wine? The official "linux" version of the Y!M plainly doesn't work on my
machine (Kubuntu Jaunty).
