i managed to narrow this down some more, there is a way to reproduce this
behaviour.

- connect to MSN with kopete
- set kopete's status to "offline", this will set the status of your msn
account to "offline|blocked"
- set kopete online again, it'll reconnect all accounts except MSN

-- workaround: quit kopete instead of switching to offline.

I don't know if that points at kopete or libmsn...
