I confirm it too, on Kubuntu Jaunty with KDE 4.3b2 (Kopete 0.70.90). Not that
this bug would need more confirmations. Is it by chance Debian/Ubuntu-specific?
I also have had it for years on my various Kubuntu machines.

Initially I thought that it is related to the periods of inactivity (some
timeout error), but it also appears in the middle of a conversation, on a
perfectly stable Internet connection.
