I can't reproduce this bug with Kopete 0.70.90 (KDE 4.2.95, Qt 4.5.1)

Setting an empty resource name is shown in Pidgin as a random number but I
don't get the «There was an error authenticating with the server: Login failed
with unknown reason» with Kopete.
