I'm closing this as WORKSFORME as the 4.1.x branch of KDE is now unmaintained.
The KDE4.2 version of Kopete uses "libmsn" code instead its own MSN protocol
code, so this bugs should be fixed in KDE4.2

Please reopen this bug report if you experience this again with KDE4.2 Thanks
