I second that - this wish is still open in kde 4.3.

I want to add that the status popups of my contacts shouldn't close when I
hover them with the mouse. This way kopete could easily make it possible to
click a subcontact to chat with, click urls in status messages or even
copy&paste these messages. I imagine a similar solution as plasma's folderview
offers since kde 4.3.
