I think for me the problem is kopete relies on networkmanager to query the
online-status of my laptop.

However when using my mobile usb connector I don't use networmaganer (instead I
use a program called 'umtsmon' to etablish a connection), so kopete thinks the
whole system is in offline mode and doesn't connect itself.
