I still (with 4.2 and 4.3) do not see any blinking in the Task Manager. I can
get animated icon in System Tray, but that does not show me which window it
belongs to.
I tried all settings in kopete that seem to have to do anything with
notification on new messages and also tried desktop effects, but to no avail.

In KDE3.5 the window first blinks in the Taskbar and then it is highlighted in
blue. I liked this behavior and want it back in KDE4 (I don't insist on the
color), ideally without the need for compositing.
