Summary: skype plugin confusing configuration
Product: kopete
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kopete-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: kde-bugs at ginguppin.de
Version: 0.70.90 (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.29.4
- at almost all places a tooltip pops up "if you have problems with arts and
sounds, you can use this to turn off arts ... "
- "step two: account information", tab "launch":
-- the link one is directed to can neither be c&p'd (a bad habit mots kde apps
and dialog share) nor is it in fact a link to be clicked on
-- the skype.com page is confusing -- i am not skype developer and i can't
figure out, what of the information provided there is in fact useful. the only
thing looking relevant is the skype.conf for dbus -- and that file with the
very same content exists already. what am i supposed to do now?
-- "launch when not running" seems to be ignored -- i frequently get a skype
login dialog (why? i checked "sign me in when skype starts" and skype never
asks anymore.), with a red line saying "a second instance may be running" --
either the radio button does not work or the check for running skype does not
work
- "step two: account information", tab "connection":
-- what is "non-standard authorization"?
- "Could not find Skype.
You need to install the original dynamic linked Skype version 2.0 binary from
http://www.skype.com" pops up even before i logged on -- and nevertheless, the
message is, to say the least, confusing -- me getting the skype sign on dialog
obviously menas, that skye in fact was found.
has that to do with me running amd64 and skype in 32bit emulation (dynamically
linked)?
as said before, the skype.com page is no help here.
