I'm seeing something similar, but without the ping messages. On an idle link,
there seems to be a keep-alive with the client sending "\x0a" messages every
~55 seconds, and the server responding with "\x20\x0a". After maybe half an
hour or an hour of idle time, the client will disconnect with an error message,
and immediately reconnect. Wireshark shows nothing but that keep-alive
exchange.

KDE version: 4.2.96 (KDE 4.2.96 (KDE 4.3 RC2))

Both from Debian "experimental" packages.
