The problem happens on Kopete from KDE 4.2.2 too.   Seems related to emoticons.
That's probably a libmsn problem.
Any chances to reenable the old msnplugin just to make possible to use
kopete/kde4 with msn?  (Forgot to mention webcam support :-) )
