I'm having the exact same issue here. My list has about 250 contacts. In gaim
it works just fine, same for the official yahoo client, but kopete gets
disconnected a few seconds after connecting.
If there's anything I could do to help you solve this issue, I'd be glad to.

Also, my ignore list appears in a "(Unnamed group)" in my buddy list.
