Hi Nicolas, today I tested the last version of kopete (from source) and another
app that manage Webcam too called cheesse (or something like that :P) ... here
my conclutions:

- It can't be 2 apps using the same Webcam. in my case cheesse and
kopete-settings.
- The bug it still there, but it doesn't a kopete issue but seems to be a issue
with gspca (Webcam driver/module)

I'm trying of load the mxhaard.free.fr page but it seems broken, also I
downloaded the gspa sources and a fast view indicates that the code has not
been touched since 2005 :(. I hope that someone maintain the source,
unfortunately I don't have the skills to such task neither the time :( to start
to learn it.
