I tested with kopete svn trunk r836553.

1. added a contact (12345 in that case) and put it into group A
2. rightclick on it and create a new metacontact for it
3. move metacontact 12345 into group B
4. reconnect to gadu 
 -> metacontact 12345 is in group B, group A shows the same metacontact after gadu is online again
